January Devotional-New Beginnings

Verses for Reflection

“Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be.”Job 8:7

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old is gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Devotional Thought

I am routinely reminded that some days are tougher than others and find myself saying “tomorrow has to be better than today.” It is such a vicious thought cycle that before long, it seems that is my mantra every day.

However I am reminded that God has our new beginning already planned for us. The old is gone and the new awaits us some day when we get to heaven. God outlines that our time here will not be easy and will be filled with trials and tribulations.

We need to remind ourselves that these trials offer us a chance for a new beginning at every turn. We have the control to choose which way we go.

Prayer

“Dear God…we come to you today with thanks for all that you have given and know that our new beginning will be glorious and is filled with your love. We ask that you guide us on our path each day and help us to navigate our trials. Let us find the reminders that you show us of our new beginnings and let us not worry about the trials we think are insurmountable. In your name, we pray. Amen.”

Thought/action point:

I encourage you to take and rewrite your mantra on the days that it is tough. Instead of saying that it can’t get worse, look for the blessings in the day. Those blessings always remind us of the great things that lie ahead if we choose to open our hearts and have faith.
