Handling the Big Unexpecteds of Life

As I reach out to you today at 45 years old, I would like to think I have seen and handled all the unexpecteds in life. Yet I know the good Lord always has a bigger, greater plan!

I know I have not had as many as some but have had more than others. Yet I feel my experiences give me something to share. My most life-changing experiences have been my parents and to be in-laws splitting for a time a few weeks before my wedding. Shortly after my wedding, we lost my father-in-law unexpectedly. Additional unexpecteds have included facing infertility, my spouse facing a potential terminal cancer at 34 and, of course, world events like 9/11 and the Corona Virus.

Either way, how we navigate each situation builds on our strengths, defines our weaknesses, and prepares us for the next event…hoping that it will be easier.

I believe there is no right or wrong way to handle things. Being supportive of others each day, you may find yourself trying a new way to cope.

One thing I know for certain is God’s plan is always bigger than our own. We need to open our hearts and minds to listen to what he tells us each day and let him fill our presence.

Here are a few items to do each day to make the unexpecteds a little easier:

  • Prayer and meditation.
  • Eat healthily.
  • Exercise.
  • Find time for yourself.
  • Find the positives in each crisis.

Know there is always light at the other end, a silver lining in every cloud, and that God never gives us more than we can handle for a reason.

What’s your worst life unexpected you didn’t think you’d make it thru? What ways do you push through the tough times? How do you find the positive in each crisis?

We would love to hear and remember to always find the positive!!
